At DVGRR, we are very fortunate to have our own kennel facility, including space for over fifty dogs and over four acres of beautiful fenced exercise area. When our rescue first started in 1993, we used foster homes to house and care for the Goldens in our program. Still, we always dreamed of finding and purchasing our own freestanding kennel. In 2000, our dream came true with the acquisition of Golden Gateway thanks to our generous supporters and those who shared and contributed to our dream.

Goldens accepted into our program spend anywhere from one week to several months at Golden Gateway while we assess their health, personality, temperament, and activity level. Each dog’s stay at Golden Gateway is designed with two critical purposes in mind:

  • To ensure the highest quality of care and nutrition while they are in our care.
  • To develop as complete a picture as possible of what type of adoptive home will be the most appropriate for them.

We are very proud of our campus, which offer many opportunities for us to serve the Goldens in our care. Through generous donations, dedicated volunteers, loyal supporters, and the proceeds from our online and on-site retail store, Pap’s Place, we are able to keep Golden Gateway in pristine condition for many future Goldens and adopters to come. Our adopted Goldens always love to come back to Golden Gateway, whether for boarding, grooming or for our annual reunion.
