Oodles of Doodles... all in NEW loving homes!
DVGRR came to the rescue again in early August when we received a call on the intake line about accepting 21 Goldendoodle puppies after the state forced relinquishment of the dogs by a breeding operation in violation of state laws. An immediate response was needed, and we were again faced with a decision about accepting Golden mixes.
Our crew loaded crates and set off. They could smell the place before they pulled onto the property, and each time they tried to get close to the housing area, they were forced back. The angry "breeder's" comment was repeated: "Do you know how much money I'm losing?"
Yes, we do. Based on Internet research, Goldendoodles are selling for $2500.00 each. So, this “breeder” insisted he was handing us almost $60,000.00 in goods. However, DVGRR's adoption fee was $780 and included all inoculations to date, spay/neuter (at DVGRR's BARK Hospital), microchipping, worming, etc.
The puppies ranged in age from 9 to 12 weeks and are varying sizes as some have been bred as “mini” Goldendoodles.
We're happy to announce today, ALL Goldendoodles have been adopted!
We struggled with this rescue and our mission, which is purebred Golden Retrievers. Sarah said that had anyone gone along and seen these conditions, no one could (or should) turn their backs on these dogs simply because they are only “half” of our breed.
Our mission and promise is to our breed, and although they are only half-Golden, we have taken the responsibility to see that they get the lives they should lead instead of ending up in pet stores or stock for future breeding greed.
To be ready for future adoption opportunities, please complete an adoption application if you haven't already done so, or learn more about DVGRR's adoption process.
Thanks to Deborah Simon for sponsoring our Oodles of Doodles!
