Food, Toys, and Puzzles

By Lisa Jagielski, Intake/Volunteer Manager and Trainer

There are no magic potions to cure bad behavior. However, the closest thing we have may be a Kong® or other food-dispensing toys. Many “bad” behaviors can be related to too much energy. Excess energy can make dogs bark, chew, jump, dig etc. You’d be surprised at how tiring it is for a dog to work for his food. It is both physically and mentally stimulating. Fearful dogs can learn that they have control over their world: action and reward.
