Mark your calendar now for Sept. 26, 2020 – our second attempt at this year’s revised Gala, hence the name: Rockin’ Rescue II. We were well into the planning and preparation around our “Rockin’” theme, so we’re moving ahead with it, now on-site at DVGRR. We’d already prepared a fun video and acquired some wonderful auction items, so please plan to join us at Golden Gateway for this event from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. We’ll have a silent auction, raffles, games, great food and drinks, and plenty of fun! Registration is $60.00/person or $110.00/couple. If you are a Golden Circle member, you will receive two complimentary tickets to the event as you would have for the Gala. More details about this event are coming!
Many of you had pre-ordered the custom Gala “Concert T-shirt,” so this will be the time to wear it to celebrate a rescue that ROCKS! We will have a limit of 200 guests for this human-only event, so RSVP soon with the form on the right.
Part of the Gala has always been our Fund-a-Cause, and last year’s event enabled us to raise funds for the expansion of our Project Home Life program and building addition. We were overjoyed by its success! Our plan for this year was (and still is) to focus on the hidden cost of rescue – having a brick-and-mortar, dedicated facility and those behind-the-scenes expenses that are needed to provide a secure, loving, and consistent environment for the dogs that arrive at Golden Gateway. Here is a list of some of the “hidden” costs of operating Golden Gateway:
$9,000: Electricity for campus buildings (excluding Sanctuary)
$8,000: Propane for heating campus buildings
$8,000: Property insurance
$8,000: Workers’ compensation insurance
$6,700: Postage for mailings, receipts, etc.
$6,000: Vehicle fuel
$4,400: School tax
$3,500: Electricity for Sanctuary
$2,600: Quickbooks software
$2,300: Giftworks database software
$1,500: Kennel cleaner/disinfectant
$1,075: Property tax
$1,000: Fire alarm system (monitor/test/maintenance)
$500: Washer/dryer maintenance
$2,200: Dog food
$400: Cell phone contracts
$310: Server backup/disaster recovery
$300: Computer/email support
$200: Phone/Internet/Cable (Sanctuary)
$200: Trash disposal
$200: Copier/equipment maintenance
$100: Email blast subscription
$50: Pest control
$175: Transport from Puerto Rico
Whether or not you can join us in September, please consider a donation toward any (or any portion of) these expenses that will be applied to our general fund. You can use the form on the right for your Fund-a-Cause donation.
We’re still pulling together the details regarding the menu and more, and due
to the pandemic, we’re alternating working onsite and from home and many
of our vendors are currently unavailable. As details are finalized, we’ll share them in emails and on our website and Facebook pages.
